Shuicide Holla G.O.A.L.S Album Review

Wednesday I had the pleasure of attending Shuicide Holla's listening party. If you don't know who Shuicide is, he is the man behind the hit single " Hit dem Folks" where the audio file on youtube has over a million views and the music video is currently sitting comfortably at two hundred fifty thousand views. Its actually a very catchy song that also has a dance that goes with it. With his new found hype from " hit dem folks" fans, media sources, and the city are waiting to see if he will hit or miss with his upcoming album.

As I am writing this I am currently playing track 13 " The Truth " on his up coming album G.O.A.L.S on repeat might I add. I really like this song it puts you in the mindset of Kendrick Lamars hit track " money trees ". This is the type of song to think and reflect, even roll a spliff. Wait im getting ahead of myself here. I went to the listening party with a open mind and ear. I also took a good friend and colleague of mines to make sure I stayed on task. The listening party was packed with some of Cleveland's top Dj's, producers, rappers, and videographers in the game. I was honored to be able to network with some of Clevelands best.

The setup they had was nice. Shuicides videos playing on the wall, posters of SHU feathered thru out the room. Throw in a little alcohol and you've got a listening party. They also served food. I didn't drink, I wanted a clear head so i can give a better opinion when it came to listening to the music. They started playing songs around 8 o'clock. Shuicide introduced every track. He talked about where the inspiration came from for each track. Personally thanked each producer and engineer for each track before he played a song.

When they started playing music my colleague and I, whos name is Dj. Said we would rate each song on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being a hit and 1 being you should've kept that to yo self. 5 being average. Now the first track Shuicide played was Backflips( prod. G.A.Z) which is #2 on his upcoming album G.O.A.L.S.

Dj gave this track a 7 I gave it a 6 i thought the song was ok. The hook is what stood out to me. Nice strong bars but an overall average track.

The next song SHU introduced was Ms 808 ( prod. Sosa 808 ) which is #3 on G.O.A.L.S

Dj gave this song a 9 and i gave it a 9 also. This track right here, this track? This track right here is hott yes with two T's that is not a typo. When it came on at the listening party, the crowd agreed.

SHU introduced his third track as New Whip( prod. G.A.Z ) and its #5 on G.O.A.L.S

Dj gave this track a 5 and I also gave this track a 5. Its not a bad song, but its also not a hit. Its a song you have to be in the mood for, and if its played enough it just may grow on you.

SHU introduced 3 more songs with The Truth (prod Sosa 808 ) as the 4th and bonus track since he was only suppose to let us hear 7 songs. Dj and I both gave this song a 9. Its the same song I am still listening to on repeat while I write this. After the listening party ended they passed out little red bags with little handles. To all the producers,Dj's and Media Outlets. Inside the bag was a key usb flash drive containing Shuicides upcoming album G.O.A.L.S So like a true journalist and hip-hop fan. I listened to the album, and my honest opinion not pulling any punches....

I think he may have a hit on his hands. With hit songs like "Hit dem folks" " Ms 808" and " The Truth" his album made it into my playlist, and to do that you have to come correct. You dont have to believe me, when the album drops you be the judge...
