What’s going on?

In today’s world it seems that the only way to get a point across is to result to violence. In 2018 we have witnessed and felt more pain than happiness. The media broadcasting stations only have bad news to inform us about from places around the country. But what about in our own back yards? Cleveland is literally becoming a war zone. These past years had been nothing but community inflicted pain on all of us. There have been an abundance murders involving our own people. Guns are getting in the hands of these young people at alarming rates. Social media is becoming the platform for bullying and flashing of weapons, drugs, and sex. Mothers and fathers are burying the children before themselves. Bodies are being found at gas stations, on sidewalks, inside of homes, near schools and inside cars. Young women are coming up missing with their bodies being found mutilated in field we played in as children. Babies are even becoming victims of Homicides. Babies! While researching for this article I came across a website called 25crime, and on this website it listed eighty-five or more unsolved murders dating back years. I was taken aback as I scrolled through that never ending list of names and faces of African American people. Some murders I don’t remember being on the news, but they still remain unsolved. What are we doing in our community? Why are public places becoming war zones? Bullets flying past our children’s heads while they partake in child like activities, oblivious to the danger they’re in. It all seems like a movie but this is our reality. We have to do better.
